5 Workspace announcements from Google Cloud Next 2024
Google announced several Google Workspace updates at
Cloud Next
this week, designed to empower teams. These updates include improvements to
existing features and the introduction of entirely new tools, all with the
goal of making collaboration more efficient.
Here are five such updates 👇
Create and share videos at work with Google Vids
Want to create engaging work videos but lack the editing expertise?
Vids, the newest member of the Workspace fam, is here to help.
This AI-powered app generates storyboards you can customize, then uses stock
footage, images, and music to build a draft video. Choose a pre-recorded
voiceover or add your own, and Vids becomes your one-stop video creation
shop - writing, production, and editing assistant included.
Vids boasts a user-friendly interface for seamless collaboration. Work with
colleagues and securely share projects directly in your browser. Vids is a
game-changer, empowering anyone to become a workplace storytelling
pro.
Vids will be released to Google Workspace Labs in June.
Automatically translate captions in more languages in Meet
Workspace users rejoice! You can already enable translated captions during
video calls, letting you choose your preferred language for real-time
translation. This breaks down language barriers for global
communication.
But it gets better! Coming in June, a new feature called "Translate for me in Meet" will automatically detect the spoken language and
translate captions
into your chosen tongue. This update expands supported languages from the
current number to a whopping 69, making communication even more
inclusive.
These exciting features, along with "Take notes for me" and more, will be
part of a new AI Meetings and Messaging add-on for Workspace. For $10 per
user per month, you can unlock the power of AI to enhance your meetings and
chats.
Protect sensitive files with a new AI Security add-on
Attention IT professionals! Enhance your data security with the new
AI Security add-on for Google Drive. This powerful tool
automatically identifies, classifies, and safeguards sensitive files across
your entire organization.
AI Security leverages privacy-preserving AI models that can be trained on
your company's specific data. This ensures continuous evaluation,
classification, and protection, not just for existing files, but also for
any new additions to your Drive.
AI Security is now available for select Workspace plans for $10 per user per month.
Organize information better with new spreadsheet and document features
Google Sheets is getting a makeover! A new tables feature will
automatically format and organize your data, giving it a sleek and modern
look. Plus, pre-made templates for tasks like project management and event
planning will save you time by eliminating the need to build spreadsheets
from scratch. This update will be available for all Workspace users
soon.
Docs is getting an organizational boost too! A new tabs feature lets
you keep related information within a single document, making it easier to
navigate. And for a more personalized touch, you can now add full-bleed
cover images that stretch across the entire width of your browser. These
features are coming to all Docs users in the coming weeks.
Send messages easily with new Gmail features
Struggling to write an email on your phone?
Help me write on Gmail
mobile now lets you use voice prompting to compose emails on the go. Simply
speak your message and Gmail will transcribe it for you.
And there's more! The new instant polish feature, coming soon to Gmail,
helps you transform quick notes into complete email drafts with a single
click. No need for voice prompts – just jot down your thoughts and let AI
handle the rest.
These features are available for
Gemini
Enterprise and Business users, as well as Google One AI Premium
subscribers.
